“Scotland’s sunniest city” is a real title Dundee holds, not just a marketing line — but it’s worth knowing what that means in practice before you book.
Spring (March–May) is when the city wakes up properly. The Tay waterfront is at its best with longer light and fewer crowds than summer. Pack layers; mornings are still sharp even when afternoons are pleasant. This is a strong window for contractors and business travellers too — quieter streets, easier parking, and our apartments tend to have more flexibility on longer stays.
Summer (June–August) brings the most daylight of anywhere in Scotland and the busiest stretch for the city’s festivals and outdoor events. Dundee Law and Camperdown Park are at their best now. Book ahead — this is when our self-catering flats fill up fastest, especially if you want a specific apartment.
Autumn (September–November) is genuinely underrated. The light along the Tay turns gold, the museums and galleries are quieter, and you get the city without the queues. If you’re the kind of guest who’d rather have breathing room than a packed calendar of events, this is your season.
Winter (December–February) is when Dundee earns its character. Shorter days, but the city centre still has plenty open, and there’s something to be said for a self-catering flat with a proper kitchen when you’d rather cook than brave the cold for dinner. Several of our apartments have working fireplaces — ask when you book if that matters to you.
Whatever season brings you here, the advantage of staying with us rather than a hotel is flexibility: a kitchen to make your own breakfast, a living room that isn’t a single bed and a wall-mounted TV, and the option to extend a stay without renegotiating everything.
